Using the tool
Metadata Remover is a free browser-based tool for supported image and PDF metadata. Read these terms before use; stop using the tool if you do not agree.
Your files and responsibilities
You retain your rights to your files and must have permission to process and share them. Use the tool lawfully. Do not violate privacy or copyright, falsify provenance or alter evidence unlawfully. Removing metadata does not remove copyright obligations.
Technical limitations
Images are re-encoded: quality and colors can change and animation becomes a still image. PDF cleaning removes supported Info and Metadata objects, not all personal data or page content. Encrypted or signed PDFs are unsupported. AI/C2PA detection is heuristic, not proof; pixel watermarks are not removed.
Keep originals and check results
Back up originals and inspect outputs before sharing. Risk ratings are not security certificates or legal advice. This tool is not document redaction and does not guarantee complete removal or regulatory compliance.
Availability, liability and contact
The tool is provided as is and may change, fail or become unavailable. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the provider is not liable for loss arising from use or inability to use it. Mandatory rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected. Third-party libraries retain their licenses. See the Privacy Policy for data handling; changes to these terms are published here.
